How to Use a Vape Pen

How to Use a Vape Pen

Using a vape pen is popular among weed users because of its portability and flexibility. To help you get familiarized, Just Cannabis has created a guide so that you can browse through the basics of everything you need to know about how to use a marijuana vape pen below.

What is a Vape Pen?

A vape pen is a small, pocket-sized device used to consume weed products. Shaped like a “pen,” vape pens work by heating a vape tank or a cartridge to produce vapour instead of smoke. They are different from tabletop vaporizers because they are portable and don’t need to be stationary.

Since the introduction of portable vaporizers, devices have evolved to offer various flavours, customizable options, and more extended battery capacity and running times. As a result, they are also called cannabis vapes, THC vapes, or weed pens.

Types of Vape Pens

While weed pens all work similarly, there are a few different types to consider when vaping cannabis. One type, a draw-activated vape pen, does not have any buttons to push. This means you can use it efficiently without ever needing to turn it on or off.

In contrast, push-button vapes require the user to press the button to turn the device on. The advantage to using push-button weed pens is that they offer more flexibility, allowing you to adjust the voltage output depending on your needs.

There are also disposable weed pens and refillable weed vapes. Disposable weed pens have a limited number of puffs per pen, whereas a refillable weed vape has a vape battery that can be recharged and a vape cartridge that can be swapped out for different vape oils or vape juice.

Lastly, dry herb vaporizers allow you to choose precisely which strain you want to vape by grinding up the weed nug and placing it inside the chamber.

Choosing the best Type of Vape Pen for Cannabis Flower

Using Weed Oil and Distillate Carts

Many people use vape pens with Delta-8 THC vape cartridges or cannabis oil cartridges. These types of cartridges are typically called 510-threaded, which refers to the shape of the cart and its compatibility with vape pens. This is the most common type of vape cartridge you’ll find. When you vape cannabis, you can feel the effects within seconds to minutes. These effects could last up to six hours, sometimes as long as 24 hours.

Learning how to vape weed is easy! Vaping beginners should start small, breathing in just a small bit of the cannabis flower. You can always take another puff if desired. If using an adjustable vape cart, set the voltage at the desired level before using. Ideally, most carts work optimally around 3.3 to 3.8 volts.

If you’re using a disposable vape pen, start vaping with just one puff. It may take a few tries to get a hang of the process and to find the right amount of puffs. Experienced cannabis users may need larger doses as tolerance increases. Taking too long of a puff or too many puffs on disposable vape pens can lead to coughing or too much THC in the body.

Using CBD with Vape Pens

If you’re looking for some of the health benefits without the euphoria or high feeling, CBD vapes may be worth considering. Pre-filled CBD cartridges are an easy and quick way to inhale CBD oil or CBD distillate. These function similarly to the weed cartridges mentioned above. Simply screw the CBD cart into the device, turn it on (if it’s a push-button type) and inhale. Keep your pen around 3.3 to 3.8 volts, just as you would with a weed cartridge.

Why has my Vape Pen Stopped Working?

If you’ve gone to use your vape pen to find it isn’t working, don’t panic! There are a few basic troubleshooting steps to try first. Then, check for these common errors before you run to purchase a new vape pen.

If you have a push-button vape device, be sure you’ve clicked the button five times before using it. This will turn the device on. Also, be sure to check the connection between your cartridge. If it is too loose, your vape pen will not work. Make sure it is screwed in entirely before using your vape pen. You’ll also want to make sure you are using the correct type of cartridge for your vape pen device. Some cartridges may not be compatible with all types of vape pens.

If your cartridge has nothing left, it’s time to buy a new one! Lastly, make sure your vape batteries are charged thoroughly before use.

Choosing the best Type of Vape Pen for Cannabis Flower

As mentioned above, both types of vape pens work optimally. Depending on your usage, one may be best for your needs. For THC or CBD oil cartridges, a standard 510-threaded vape pen will offer you the most compatibility. These range in price from low-end to high-end. Higher-end vape pens are likely to have shorter charging times with extended battery life. You’ll need a specialized vape pen if you plan on vaping weed or dabs.
